It was that kind of day...

Seriously. I kid you not. Today was that kind of day. As I told my sweet grandmother, it was the funniest bad day I have ever had. Hopefully bad things only come in threes, because I had my three today. Let's say I'm done now, because really? You can't make this stuff up!

1. On my way to work this morning, I stop at Starbucks as always. I go to grab my (new, fabulous Louis Vuitton Speedy 30) purse from my trunk. SMACK. My formerly-new car is not so new anymore. The hatchback trunk doesn't fly all the way up automatically, which means that the latch on my trunk smashed into the top of my head. Hard. I sat and cried for a few seconds, surprised I didn't fall over from such a hard hit. I made it in and ordered my coffee. Sweet barista gave it to me free when she asked what had happened. Crisis averted. Or so I thought.

2. After our big staff meeting, around 11 a.m., I look over at one of my two beta fish. (Red Fish and Blue Fish are there names - and no, they are both red.) Well, they were. Blue fish went belly up overnight. No idea why. Strike two for my day.

3. I finally get a break in the afternoon, and I pick up Blue Fish and his little cylinder of a tank and head to flush him. Standing in the single-stall bathroom, the water empties. Blue Fish doesn't. He's stuck on the lip of the vase. In the midst of trying to figure out how to get him out of it, the heavy river rocks that gave him a cute little habitat? Well, they get heavier. And all of them are leaning on the thin wall of glass that makes up the side. Not the heavy bottom. Poof. Everything shatters in my hands, half if the toilet and half - well, not. No less than 7 people were outside the bathroom door at this time, talking in a little group. They heard the crash. I opened the door, mortified and slightly sad - and fairly bemused. All of this took place in front of my boss' boss and other high-ups. It was insane. They laughed. I cleaned.

SO really? That was my day. I'm hoping tomorrow is better - and maybe just not QUITE so funny, right?

Mrs. Jones

EB still says Roll Tide!

You like what Eve Belle is getting for Christmas? This precious houndstooth coat from The Limited. But I had to try it on her to make sure it fit before I wrapped it up. And I couldn't stop myself from taking a picture. :-)

Making it to the movies....

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Family holidays always equal movie times in the theaters for our family! :-)

We saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 on Thanksgiving night - and I was pretty happy with it! I thought it was less dark than movies 5 and 6, which made me happy. No Voldemort dreams here thank goodness.

I am ready for the final movie. I think it will be awesome. I started reading these books before they were even very popular, I guess around 10 years ago. My sweet uncle gave me the first book before anyone had heard of them, and I fell in LOVE!

The second movie we went to see last night - Morning Glory. Loved it. I almost didn't go, because I was so tired, but it was amazing, I highly recommend it! It was such a fun sweet story. Anyone else seen it? I missed going once before with friends, so I'm glad I made it this time!

What's next on everyone's holiday movie-going list? Share!!!

The Ultimate Fabulous Frugal Friday... BLACK FRIDA

My Black Friday started on Thanksgiving morning. I ran out to get some lovely Starbucks, and hit up CVS.

I started by purchasing one Renpure Organics hair care item for $4.99, which has a buy me free hangtag (score! FREE) and it gave me $4.99 ECBs. I then continued to buy free after ECB items and just kept rolling them into the next item. So, for 2 Renpure hair items, 2 Herbal Essences Hydralicious shampoos, Listerine pocket packs, Carmex and a Varsity Snuggie..... drumroll please!

I paid $11! :-)

Victory!

I headed out before Black Friday even began, starting Thanksgiving night at 11:30 at Wal-Mart. I picked up a couple of 2 quart crock pots for $2.97 each, two Shop Vacs for $15 each and some cute fleece PJ pants for Mr. Jones and me! Score!

Old Navy was more to keep me awake than anything, but I wound up with socks, tanks, and $5 PJ pants! That line was LONG!

I then stood in line, outside Belk, for AN HOUR, from 3-4 a.m. waiting for Belk to open. They were giving away gift cards to the first 250 people. I wound up with a $5, but that was okay. There were only THREE of what I was hunting for. My dearest husband will be getting a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker for his Christmas present. He has wanted one for years, and it was on SALE!

I ran to Target to get a game for his dad's Christmas present, and I got a precious chenile brown and white houndstooth blanket for us too. Then, I POURED myself into bed at 5:30. Whew.

I slept for about 5 hours, then drug myself out of the house and off to the Iron Bowl, where poor Alabama lost. It hurt. And boy oh boy was I tired!!! Thank goodness my husband agreed to stop for coffee on the way!

That was my black Friday. How was everyone else's? Thanksgiving fun soon!

(I was pretty happy that I wasn't the only one in blog land out and about. My bloggy friend Cole talks about her crazy Black Friday here.)

Menu Monday: Hot Feta Artichoke Dip

Here's a total new favorite of mine! I got this off of Athenos' Facebook page. Check it out. They give out coupons AND share great recipes!

Athenos' Hot Feta Artichoke Dip

Ingredients:
- 1 can (14 oz.) artichoke hearts, drained, chopped
- 1 package (8 oz.) Athenos Traditional Feta Cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 jar (2 oz.) diced pimientos, drained
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Triscuit Thin Crisps

Instructions:
1. Combine all ingredients except crackers.
2. Spoon into 9-inch pie plate.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through and lightly browned.

My thoughts:
- I left out the pimientos, because I just don't like them. It was perfect.
- I used Reduced Fat Wheat Thins instead of Tricuit crackers. (another personal preference.)
- I baked it in two Fiesta individual casserole dishes. and it made two servings. Loved!
- I guessed and baked it at 350 since there was no heat setting given. Worked fine!

Slight obsessions: Disney and Glee

We all know I have a slight Disney obsession, and Glee is rapidly climbing my list of favorite things as well. It's getting close to being right up there with Disney!!!

I found these precious Disney Dooney and Bourke clutches and OMG I want!

I also recently begged a friend going to Disney to pick me up a few of these little gems for EB. They are here FAVORITE toy! :-) She has a new one now, and I hid another one to use as a Christmas present.
DH and I (yes, he loves Glee too) are also ITCHING for the two new Glee CDs! Anyone else wishing for these?

Just thought I'd share. Happy Sunday lovelies!

Ode to Target....

We all know I love Target, but the $10 off of 3 brands of sleepwear on Target.com/coupons right now makes life even better! I got these three pairs of sleep shorts for $3 total after that coupon! Check it out - and then hit up the clearance rack!

I also picked up another pack of tights, since I killed one pair, and Eve Belle killed my other And these shoes are perfect for winter work wear! I just needed any flats, but I like these! The blisters on my heels don't love me at the moment, but I used a $5 off of $25 Merona purchase, which made the shoes about $12! Score!

So, yes, this is my (weekly? it seems) ode to Target. What have you found lately? Anything good?

Mrs. Jones

Menu Monday: Shrimp and Crab Quesadilla

Redbook's "Healthier At Home" Shrimp and Crab Quesadilla

Ingredients:
- 8 oz each cooked shrimp and lump crabmeat
- 1/2 cup fresh corn kernels (char them in a skillet for even more flavor)
- 1/2 cup pico de gallo or chunky salsa
- 1/4 cup nonfat sour cream
- 2 habanero chiles, seeded, finely diced
- 1 1/2 cups each shredded pepper jack cheese and cheddar cheese
- 8 8-inch nonfat flour tortillas

Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine shrimp, crab, corn, pico, sour cream and chiles.
2. Top each of 4 tortillas with 3/4 cup cheese and 3/4 cup of the shrimp-crab mixture, then place remaining tortillas on top.
3. Cook quesadillas in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until browned, 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook 3 minutes more. Cut each into 6 wedges. Makes 6 servings (4 wedges each).
(Each serving has 431 calories.)

My thoughts:
- This was delicious, but a little too large a portion for just the two of us!

Bits and pieces, photo style

As I clean off my phone and camera, there were still a few things I needed to share with you!

I got super cute presents from Katie a month or two ago when we moved. The sign looks so cute over our laundry room! I haven't put the cross up yet.

In case you wondered how I plot my shopping trips and couponing, I took a picture.

We made a super pretty pizza last week.

This is a version of taco-pasta bake. It was yummy.

I even set the table one night!

A friend bought some of Eve's Christmas presents in Disney for us. I was so glad she was going down there. Everything I wanted was sold out. So how perfect and sweet of a friend is that?

Mr. Jones made some seriously amazing crab and shrimp pasta. I will post his makeshift recipe. It's seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten. Yum.

Okay, that's about it for my photo montage.

Keeping it real...

A little bit of a "life lately" picture post for you guys. I have mentioned all the scrapbooking I've been getting done. It's fun. And totally set up in the middle of my living room.

Eve thinks it is all more toys for her.

And my most embarrassing picture from the last week:

Yeah, I got pretty behind in the kitchen after a cooking and baking spree. It has been remedied though, I promise.

Just letting you see that I am me! :-)

Happy Thursday,

Tis the Season.....

....to be jolly! Fa-la-la-la-la, La-la-la-la!

Okay, so I'm in CHRISTMAS card mode! Yay! I wanted to share some beautiful cards that I've been looking at. I checked out a few sites, and Shutterfly has won my vote - even before they agreed to give me 50 free cards for blogging about my choices! (Full disclosure - and boy am I excited!)

I had narrowed it down to three favorites a few weeks ago. I knew I wanted a folded card, and one that would allow for multiple pics and writing, because there is so much about this year to share! I got a job, we bought a house, and I finished grad school! So much to tell all our friends! I loved this idea more than writing just a Christmas letter and putting it in a card.

So I set about finding cards that would let me do this.

I liked quite a few:

I think this is my favorite though:

The inside (small pic, but you get the idea) lets you do this:

Perfect for what I'm looking for!

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for cards - and doesn't spoil the surprise for my friends who will get cards! While I am getting free cards, this is TOTALLY a company I love. Keep up with them, because they give away 1-3 FREE cards on a regular basis with special codes. I love getting these for special thank you notes!

Mrs. Jones

Wishful Wednesday: Fall Target Style

There is something about black and grey in the fall. I love it. I need it. I want to shop till I drop!

I've especially been eyeing this precious little dress at Target. I really need to go try it on soon. Do you like it?

$49.99

It would be perfect for work! And maybe even those Christmas card pictures I've been contemplating..... black tights and back slouchy boots?

And you KNOW I've never met a cardigan I don't like. And then I fell in love with these shoes online too. I wonder if they have them in my store here.... I need to go find out! So much to do and wear. Sigh.

$27.99

What are you wishing for this Wednesday?
